Company Description

Northern Native Fishing Corporation is a native corporation who have been in business for over 40 years. We own 254 commercial salmon gillnet licenses which are leased on an annual basis to Native fishermen. The licenses lengths vary from 24' to 34'.

After the 1982 Contribution Agreement, the vessels were sold to native fishermen with the objective of facilitating their development as independent business operators.

Northern Native Fishing Corporation (NNFC) was incorporated on January 4, 1982 and was established with funding of $11.7 million from the Federal Government under the 1982 Contribution Agreement. This agreement set out the parameters and guidelines for the 254 licenses.
