Company Description

Yinka Dene Economic Development Limited Partnership (YLP) is the corporate business arm for the Wet'suwet'en First Nation (WFN). Under the authority of the YLP Board of Directors, YLP's role is to manage all of the Nations for-profit business ventures and employment and training matters related to the economic development projects and other opportunities. This includes working closely with a variety of different business partners, business ventures, each with their own particular area of specialization.

YLP was incorporated in 2012 with the mandate to provide and improve the economic welfare of its WFN members and carrying on all economic development business activities for and on behalf of the WFN. It was founded primarily to cover the four priority areas:

1. Education and Training
2. Health and Wellness
3. Housing
4. Language and Culture.

YLP has partnered with various companies to offer a broader range of services that enables the YLP to pursue and engage in more contracts.

YLP's Formation
In 2012, the need for improved living standards for the community of WFN was identified as a priority to support the members
to address this need, the current WFN Chief and Council established the Yinka Dene Economic Development Limited Partnership.

The company was formed and incorporated, with the mind to be able to capture economic benefits that come from surrounding industry
such as: Logging, Road Construction, and Mining.

The Board was hand selected by Chief and Council and was comprised of Directors for their diverse knowledge in the areas of business, finance, administration, economic development, legal aspects, forest industry and a few seats were put aside for WFN band members for their business and community involvement.
